The Barn at Beal

The Barn at Beal beautifully combines a coffee shop, restaurant and gift shop, as well as the recently-opened Bothy Bar.

Located en route to the Lindsifarne causeway crossing, the Barn at Beal is an excellent stopping point for brunch, coffee and cake, or something more substantial. If the weather’s warm enough for eating outside, the picnic tables on the terrace provide you with sweeping views across the fields towards the Holy Island of Lindisfarne.

The little shop sells a selection of local products (including Lindisfarne mead!) if you’re looking for a gift to take home.

Great for dogs because there are plenty of outside tables where you can sit and eat with your dog by your side. If the weather isn’t great, dogs are also welcome in the Bothy Bar, but be aware that the opening hours of the bar are more limited than the restaurant, so best to call ahead to check that they can accomodate you.

Great for kids because there’s a little play park adjoining the barn where they can enjoy the swings and clamber on the climbing frame. In springtime, watching the lambs frollicking in the field in front of the barn also makes for excellent entertainment.
