If you have any queries about Old Salt Cottage please email hello@oldsaltcottage.co.uk.
Check-in is 3pm and check-out is 10am*. Early check-in or late check-out may be permitted with prior arrangement but will be dependant upon other bookings so may not be feasible. Upon check-out, please leave all doors and windows locked, and the key securely in the key safe.
* Our check out time was previously 11am but we've brought this forward by an hour due to COVID-19 concerns, to give our cleaners an extra hour to give the cottage a really thorough clean between guests.
We have a three night minimum stay policy and, as we mainly cater for short breaks, the maximum length of stay we can offer is 11 nights.
Payment must be made by bank transfer. A deposit of 25% of the holiday price is required to secure the booking, with the balance payable eight weeks before the commencement of the holiday. If booking the holiday less than eight weeks before the commencement of the holiday, the full holiday price is payable upon booking.
When we receive your provisional booking request, we’ll be in touch to arrange payment.
Payments in any currency other than GBP are subject to a 5% surcharge.
Please contact us as soon as possible if you wish to cancel your booking. There is no cancellation fee if you wish to change your booking to another available date (providing you give us at least 3 weeks notice), although you may have to pay extra if the price of your new holiday date is higher than that of your original booking. Bookings can only be changed once.
If you cancel your booking within eight weeks of the holiday commencement date, the cancellation fee is 100%. If you cancel more than eight weeks in advance of the holiday commencement date, the cancellation fee is 25% (equivalent to the deposit that you will have paid).
We recommend you have some form of insurance that will cover your costs should you have to cancel your holiday at the last minute.
In the unfortunate event that we have to make changes to your booking (for example if the property is suffering from damage that requires immediate repair), we will refund all sums paid by you for this booking. This will be our only obligation or liability to you in such circumstances.
Covid-19 policy
If lockdown restrictions are in place in Northumberland as a result of Covid-19 and we legally cannot accommodate guests, we will refund what you have paid for your holiday. If however, the restrictions do not affect the cottage itself, we cannot offer a refund if you are unable to travel from your home area – this is because our own insurance no longer covers us for this. For this reason, we strongly recommend you have insurance that covers you in the event of you having to cancel because of a lockdown in your local area. We are, however, happy to allow you to postpone your holiday in accordance with our standard cancellation policy above.
We work hard to ensure that Old Salt Cottage is in great condition for your stay. Please treat the cottage with care and leave it in the state you found it. We thoroughly clean the cottage between bookings, but it would be appreciated if you could leave bins empty and return all furniture to its original position before you leave the cottage.
Please report any damage or breakages as soon as possible so we can organise repairs or replacements. Occasional breakages of small items (glasses/crockery) is to be expected, but guests are responsible for paying for all damage or breakages to larger items.
