The beach at Alnmouth is a large sandy bay that stretches north and south of the mouth of the River Aln.
The north side of the bay is easily accessible from Alnmouth village, with pay-and-display parking available next to the golf course.
To get to the beach at the south side of the bay you need to leave the village and follow the A1068. Check a map before you leave as the road to the beach isn’t well signposted!
Both sections of beach are rarely busy so you can often feel like you have the beach to yourself.
Great for dogs because there are no restrictions on dogs accessing Alnmouth Beach so they can run and paddle and jump the wooden groynes that cross the beach until they've burned off all their energy.
